Where I want to be: a planning tool
This tool helps you map out where you want to be in a year’s time, across three areas: the business, your team, and yourself. For each section, name up to four areas you want to develop, then work through the grid from your current baseline to where you want to be at the end of each quarter and the year as a whole.
Where do you want the business itself to be in a year - in terms of quality, service, offer, market position, or operating model?
Consider areas you want to see develop, e.g. quality, service, market positioning, operating model
Where do you want your team to be - in terms of focus, cohesion, capability, or how KPIs are met?
Consider areas you want to see develop, e.g. team focus, cohesion, capability, KPI ownership
Where do you want to be - in terms of your own knowledge, skills, behaviours, or how you spend your time?
Consider areas you want to see develop, e.g. knowledge, skills, behaviours, use of time
Once the grid is complete, sit with these five questions before you treat the plan as final.
